The graphic design faculty in the University of Northern Iowa Department of Art has issued a call for proposals for an upcoming transdisciplinary conference titled "Camouflage: Art, Science and Popular Culture" set for April 22.
The one-day weekend mini-conference will take place in UNI's Kamerick Art Building.
Proposals are welcome for 30-minute slide talks, panel discussions, demonstrations or other events on any and all dimensions of camouflage (or related methods of fooling the eye), including but not limited to artistic, scientific, natural, military, psychological, magical and fashion-related aspects.
There will be a $20 registration fee for conference participants (payable on site at registration), with the exception of all students, UNI faculty and all session presenters, who will be admitted free. Breaks will be scheduled at meal times, and all participants will be responsible for their own meals, lodging and transportation.
E-mail all proposals, including title and brief paragraph description, to conference organizer Roy Behrens, UNI professor of art, at ballast@netins.net, with "Camouflage Conference" as the subject. Deadline for submissions is Jan. 10.
