The American Red Cross Hawkeye Chapter will offer a baby sitter's training course for youths ages 11 to 15 from 9 a.m. to noon June 3 and 17. Participants must attend both sessions.

There will be 20 available spots for the course and it is first-come, first-served.

The program provides the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants, toddlers and elementary school-aged children.

The class focuses on injury prevention, emergency first aid, basic child care skills, decision making, and problem solving and leadership confidence. First aid skills also are introduced and practiced, along with CPR.

The course fee has been waived, but there will be a $10 material fee that must be paid prior to the start date of the class. To register, call the American Red Cross/Hawkeye Chapter, Health and Safety Department, at 234-8851.
