FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior Mat Clark earned All-America honors in the decathlon for the third time in his career Thursday night at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Clark, from Ames, finished in ninth place overall, but was the fifth-best American-born athlete. He ran the fastest 1,500 meters in the final event to move up from 11th place.

Former NCAA Indoor 800-meter champion Tyler Mulder qualified for the finals in that event with a season-best time of 1:47.17.

Mulder's time was the fourth-fastest semifinal time with Oregon's Andrew Wheating clocking in fastest at 1:46.21.

UNI's 4x400-meter relay team just missed moving on. The foursome of Cory Goos, Terrance Reid, Greg Offerman and Ryan Grenko ran a 3:06.06 and were 12th overall in the semifinals.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Goos clocked in at 51.83, but failed to make the final round.

The Panthers return to the track tomorrow with Terrance Reid running in the semifinals of the 400-meter dash at 7:25 p.m.
