EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Northern Iowa won its second straight extra-inning softball game and finished a sweep of Evansville Sunday as the Panthers beat the Aces, 2-1, in Missouri Valley Conference play.
Junior Rachel Gerking drove in her league-leading 34th run of the year in the top of the 10th inning to provide UNI's margin of victory. Mackenzie Daigh scored after drawing a leadoff walk.
The Panthers forced extra innings with a dramatic rally in the seventh. Megan Machovec's two-out triple brought in the tying run.
