EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Northern Iowa won its second straight extra-inning softball game and finished a sweep of Evansville Sunday as the Panthers beat the Aces, 2-1, in Missouri Valley Conference play.

Junior Rachel Gerking drove in her league-leading 34th run of the year in the top of the 10th inning to provide UNI's margin of victory. Mackenzie Daigh scored after drawing a leadoff walk.

The Panthers forced extra innings with a dramatic rally in the seventh. Megan Machovec's two-out triple brought in the tying run.

Meanwhile, Jen Larsen worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth, giving her offense a chance in the 10th.

Larsen (13-5) won for the second time in the three-game series as she went the distance and struck out three. Over her two appearances, Larsen gave up just one run and 10 hits over 17 innings.

Now 8-3 in MVC play, UNI is 24-11 overall. Evansville dropped to 0-13 in league action and 8-23 overall.
