CEDAR FALLS - Northern Iowa gave away pieces of its old artificial turf to the fans at the UNI-Dome Saturday afternoon.

On the new Mondo surface, Derrick Law rediscovered solid ground.

Law rumbled for a career-best 139 yards rushing as the Panthers defeated Saint Francis, 30-0. It wasn't quite a comeback for the senior, but it was in the ballpark.

Before the season began, Law drew a one-game disciplinary suspension.

Thus, he missed the Iowa game. Returning to active duty against South Dakota, Law got five carries as freshman Carlos Anderson drew his second consecutive start.

Saturday, Anderson struggled a bit. Law on the other hand, went right at the Red Flash defense, especially in the final half. Law racked up 133 yards of his total in the closing 30 minutes and he put Billy Hallgren in position to kick a trio of field goals.

Law thundered past his old personal mark of 105 yards, set against Indiana State in 2007. To head coach Mark Farley, Law's day was a welcome sight.

"I think Derrick has something to prove," said Farley. "By that, I mean he just wants to be Derrick Law and really be the kind of back he was at the start of the season. I think he did that. He solidified himself now, and he can move forward."

Farley also said that UNI will continue to rotate Law and Anderson.

As for Law, he felt his big day was just a matter of time.

"I always knew … that once I got into a rhythm and once I got enough carries that this type of game would happen for me," said Law.
