TURKEY VALLEY - The Trojans' Brandon Christopherson led a big first quarter that fueled a powerful offensive output as Turkey Valley improved to 5-2.
Christopherson scored twice and Mitch Balik once in the first 12 minutes as Turkey Valley put 20 points on the scoreboard.
Grundy Center fired back with a pair of scores in the late minutes of the first quarter, but Spencer Bruess and Brad Winter logged rushing touchdowns in the second quarter to extend the lead to 34-13 at the half,
Zach Mackie rushed for 126 yards, scoring once, but the Spartans fell to 3-4.

The Warriors improved to 5-2 on the season, while the Cyclones fell to 1-6. South Winneshiek's Jordan Andera went 10 of 22 for 143 yards passing with a TD and also rushed for 150 yards and three scores.
The Warriors' Jordan Imoehl rushed for 130 yards on 13 attempts and had two touchdowns.

ARLINGTON - Starmont bolted to a 20-0 lead, but couldn't fight off a spirited North Linn comeback.
Leading 20-7 at halftime, the Stars saw the Lynx score four unanswered touchdowns in the second half to take control. Included was a fumble recovery in the end zone.
Kyle Vaske ran 20 times for 127 yards to lead Starmont (1-4 district, 1-6 overall), which helped North Linn (4-1, 5-2) by giving up four turnovers.

The Buccaneers (7-0, 5-0) racked up 368 yards of offense en route to building a 28-0 halftime advantage.
Chris Orr also had two touchdowns, including a 51-yard run for East Buchanan.

FAIRBANK - Wapsie Valley kept pace with the District 4 leaders with a rout of Postville.
The Warriors put all of their points on the board in the first half. Mike Rathe ran for 200 yards on 21 carries with two scores and caught a touchdown pass. Quarterback Kyle Odneal completed 6 of 11 passes for 83 yards and one TD.
Wapsie Valley piled up 423 yards of total offense, including 304 on the ground. Defensively, the Warriors (4-1 district, 5-2 overall) held the Pirates to 132 yards of total offense and forced five turnovers, including three interceptions.

TRIPOLI - Ben Buffington rushed for three touchdowns and teammate Riley Stallsmith added two as Newman defeated the Panthers with a strong third quarter.
Buffington scored both of Newman's first half touchdowns on short runs to lead the Knights. Drew Dettmering, who threw for 279 yards, found Andrew Drewis in the end zone for the first Panther points. Kristofer Schult added a rushing score to keep the game close after two quarters.
Drewid had 107 receiving yards, but the Panthers dropped to 3-4, while Newman improved to 4-3.

Wide reciever Dylan Mayer added 136 receiving yards, and Zachary Kephart scored a pair of touchdowns to go along with his 75 yards on the ground.
After a pair of rushing touchdowns from Chaz Krueger and Kephart, Anderlik connected on a 67-yard pass to Matthew Foster in the second quarter, logging his first touchdown of the night.
Anderlik added a second touchdown early in the quarter, this time throwing 59 yards to Dylan Mayer. Kephart added another touchdown on a 24-yard rush, and the Wildcats improved to 4-3. North Butler dropped to 0-7.

GARWIN - Second-ranked North Tama's Dylan Youel rushed for 251 yards, scoring twice, as the Redhawks defeated GMG on the road despite some early troubles.
After North Tama opened the game on Wyatt Hanus' rushing touchdown, the Wolverines scored on a fumble return and a one-yard rushing touchdown to take an early lead.
The Redhawks immediately responded with 21 second-quarter points, including Youel's 31-yard rushing play, to take a commanding, 28-14 lead into the half.
Hanus threw for 128 yards, scoring once on an eight-yard completion during the second-quarter burst. North Tama improved to 7-0, while the Wolverines fell to 3-4.

Robinson completed 15 of 19 passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns.
Dunkerton had a 20-8 lead after three quarters before West Central stormed back with 21 fourth-quarter points.
Quarterback Nick Robinson threw all three touchdowns to Tyler Wedemeier, but the Blue Devils could not capatalize on any point-after attempts.

ALGONA - A big-play Algona offense kept Hampton-Dumont winless in district action.
Grant Person caught touchdown passes of 75 and 65 yards from John Gifford, and Gifford raced 54 yards for another score as Algona (3-2 district, 5-2 overall) stayed in the postseason chase. Gifford turned five pass completions into 163 total yards and ran for 71 net yards.
Taylor Sorenson rushed for 68 yards and Patrick Hansen 58 to lead Hampton-Dumont (0-5, 2-5).
