DIKE - Senior third baseman Mike Perez homered twice and drove in five runs as Dike-New Hartford thumped sixth-ranked NU High, 12-2, in a North Iowa Cedar League baseball game Thursday.
Perez went 3-for-4, Braxton Myers went 2-for-4 with a triple, and Daniel Schmitz went 3-for-3 for the Wolverines, who broke the game open when they batted around in an eight-run fourth inning.
Dike-New Hartford pitcher Nick Corwin handcuffed the hot-hitting Panthers on four hits.
"He kept the ball low, which is key, and he had them off-balance all night," said Wolverines coach Jess East.
D-NH improved to 5-8 overall and 3-5 in the NICL, while NU slipped to 11-3, 6-2.

Sailors stay hot, sweep Marion
WATERLOO - Surging Waterloo Columbus swept a WaMaC Conference doubleheader from Marion Thursday, 6-4 and 10-5.
In the first game, Ty Schmit picked up the pitching win, scattering four runs in six innings, while Taylor Ingles picked up the save.
Will Hansen went 3-for-3 at the plate and Gabe Drewelow added a pair of hits.
Skylar Kemp threw a complete game in the nightcap. Nick Maas and Ingles each homered, and Ingles had four RBIs. Drewelow chipped in with two more base hits.
The Sailors (13-9, 8-6) host Clear Creek Amana Monday.
