DIKE - Senior third baseman Mike Perez homered twice and drove in five runs as Dike-New Hartford thumped sixth-ranked NU High, 12-2, in a North Iowa Cedar League baseball game Thursday.

Perez went 3-for-4, Braxton Myers went 2-for-4 with a triple, and Daniel Schmitz went 3-for-3 for the Wolverines, who broke the game open when they batted around in an eight-run fourth inning.

Dike-New Hartford pitcher Nick Corwin handcuffed the hot-hitting Panthers on four hits.

"He kept the ball low, which is key, and he had them off-balance all night," said Wolverines coach Jess East.

D-NH improved to 5-8 overall and 3-5 in the NICL, while NU slipped to 11-3, 6-2.
