Division champions NU High and Jesup fittingly dominated the first-team rosters as the North Iowa Cedar League named its East Division All-Conference baseball and softball teams Wednesday.

NU High, which went 12-2 in conference play to capture the baseball title, placed five members on the first team, including division Player of the Year Brad Denning, as well as Coach of the Year Brent Denning, Brad's father.

Brad Denning hit .506 for the season with eight home runs while compiling an 8-1 record as a pitcher, including 6-1 in conference play. Sophomore third baseman Kyle Denning (.471 batting average) made it a clean sweep for the family as he was also named to the first team, along with teammates Tanner Cooke (pitcher, 8-0), first baseman Nate Smith (.405 in conference) and outfielder Johnny Hines (.395).

Runner-up Hudson placed three players on the baseball first team, including pitcher Cale Henke (4-2 in conference), the only freshman to make the squad.

Jesup went 13-1 in the conference softball season and was rewarded with six first-teamers, including division MVP Stacy Kayser and unanimous selections Kelsey Lough and Erica Soppe.

Senior shortstop Kayser hit .457 in conference play, Soppe hit .615, and eighth-grader Lough was a unanimous first-teamer with a conference record of 13-1 and an ERA of 0.83.

Jesup coach John Begley was named division Coach of the Year.
