
MASON CITY - Kylie Rash had an equally big game in the pitcher's circle and the batter's box as Waterloo East began play in the Mason City softball tournament with a 6-0 shutout of Hampton-Dumont Thursday.
Rash blanked the Bulldogs on two hits, allowing just two batters over the minimum, while going 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and a run scored.
Amanda Magnuson and Charissa Wright each went 3-for-4 for the Trojans, while Jessica Kinnetz was 2-for-3.
East banged out 13 hits and boosted its season record to 14-6.
The Trojans will resume tournament play Saturday with a 12:30 p.m. game against Charles City.
Also, Wednesday's suspended nightcap of a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader between East and Cedar Falls will be made up at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Robinson-Dresser Sports Complex.

Wolverines erupt, roll past NU, 14-2
DIKE - NU High struck early, but Dike-New Hartford struck back hard.
Erasing a 2-0 Panther lead, D-NH erupted for nine runs in the third inning and five more in the fourth to put Tuesday's North Iowa Cedar League softball contest away early, 14-2.
Alli Moyer went 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and an RBI for NU.
