WATERLOO - Waterloo East was no match for 10th-ranked Cedar Rapids Washington Monday.
In a Mississippi Valley Conference baseball doubleheader on the Trojans' home field, the Warriors roughed up East by 16-0 and 19-3 margins in a pair of five-inning blowouts.
Washington (24-8) hammered two home runs among 16 hits in the opener while pitcher Dakota Freese gave up just one base hit in five innings.
East (1-25) bounced back at the start of game two and stood even at 3-3 through two innings before the Warriors exploded again. Two more homers among eight base hits in the inning fueled a 13-run outburst.
East's Mike Thompson and Justin Koweil both went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI in game two.
"We started off the second game playing well, but we just lost it," said Thompson.
The Trojans visit Cedar Rapids Jefferson Friday at 5 p.m.
