CEDAR FALLS - Cedar Falls felt the sting of a pair of close losses in softball Monday in a 7-6, 4-3 Mississippi Valley Conference softball sweep at the hands of Iowa City High.
The Tigers squandered a 6-2 lead in the opener when the Little Hawks struck back for two runs in the fifth inning and three in the sixth.
In game two, City High broke a 3-3 tie when a passed ball allowed the go-ahead run to score in the seventh.
"It was disappointing because we had them down first game and we had plenty of opportunities in second," said Tiger coach Tammy Utley. "We just couldn't get a hit when we needed it."
Sarah Korte doubled in each game for the Tigers, who fell to 10-13.
