CEDAR FALLS - Cedar Falls High School senior Shyann Beach has announced her intention to sign a national letter of intent Wednesday to play softball at Division I Drexel University in Philadelphia next season.
Beach, a righthanded pitcher and hitter, broke into the Tigers' starting varsity lineup as an eighth-grader and has been a fixture ever since. With her senior season yet to play, she is already a three-time All-Metro and all-Mississippi Valley Conference selection.
Last season, Beach posted a 1.77 earned-run average while batting .264 with 19 RBIs. She earned all-district and all-academic, in addition to All-Metro and all-conference honors. She has also excelled at the AAU level while playing for several teams.
Drexel plays in the Colonial Athletic Association and is currently 18-11, including a 6-3 conference record.
