A pair of area college golfers boosted themselves into the top 25 during Wednesday NCAA national competition at two different courses in Florida.
In the Division III tournament at Howey-in-the-Hills, Wartburg senior Andrea Schiltz shot a second-round 84. That left Schiltz in 24th place after she began the day in 19th.
A three-time national qualifier, Schiltz carried a two-day total of 167 into today's action. Methodist University's Katie Dick was the halfway mark leader at 149.
In the Division II tournament at Pace, Florida, Upper Iowa sophomore Rachael Schmidt shot a 78 on the opening day of the event. She stood in a tie for 21st place, just eight strokes behind the leader, Marcia Garcia Austt of Nova Southeastern University. She tallied a 71.
Schmidt was 10th a year ago in the Division II tournament, earning all-American honors.
