CEDAR FALLS - Macy Ubben of AGWSR (Ackley) and Jenny Willms of Dike-New Hartford, high school opponents in the North Iowa Cedar League, will be competing together next season for the Northern Iowa volleyball team, coach Bobbi Petersen announced Friday.

"We are extremely excited about these two student-athletes that we are adding to our team for next year," Petersen said. "Adding Jenny and Macy to our previous three signees makes this a very exciting 2009 class."

A middle blocker, Ubben, was named captain of the 2008 Class 1A state all-tournament team after guiding AGWSR to a runner-up finish. A four-year starter, she racked up 845 kills and 387 blocks over her prep career.

Willms was a team captain in both her junior and senior seasons while leading the Wolverines to back-to-back Class 2A runner-up finishes. Named to the state all-tournament team both seasons, she also holds a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
