CEDAR FALLS - The University of Northern Iowa track and field team will be represented in just two events at the March 13-15 NCAA Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas.
Reigning NCAA Indoor 800-meter champion Tyler Mulder earned a spot in the men's 800-meter race, ranking ninth nationally with a time of 1:48.53.
In addition, the quartet of Andrew Perkins, Cory Goos, Mulder and Thibault Vandenabeele will represent the Panthers in the distance medley relay after setting a new school and Missouri Valley Conference record time of 9:30.51 last weekend. That time ranks 13th in the country in the distance medley relay standings.
Despite provisional qualifying marks by eight other individuals, UNI was shut out in those events. Ehi Oamen (high jump), Julian Morris (high jump), Travis Leuer (high jump), Mat Clark (heptathlon), Daniel Gooris (heptathlon), Phil Hanson (pole vault), Mike Beese (pole vault) and Dani Stipe (pentathlon) fell short of earning NCAA bids.
