ROCHESTER, Minn. -- The Waterloo Bucks return to their home away from home tonight on the heels of a big offensive night at Mayo Field.
Hammering two home runs and a total of 12 hits, Waterloo whipped Rochester, 9-0, here Tuesday.
Tonight, the Bucks are going back to Waterloo West's Danny Van Syoc Field for a Northwoods League doubleheader against Wisconsin. Both games will be seven innings, with the opener set for 6:05 p.m.
As for the finale of the home-and-home set with Rochester, the Bucks avenged a 4-2 Monday loss to the Honkers in dominant style.
Steven Irvine's solo home run in the top of the third inning jump-started the attack. Joey Register followed with a three-run blast, giving the Bucks a 4-0 lead.
Waterloo then added five scores in the seventh inning, giving starter Josh Rickards plenty of cushion. Rickards improved to 2-1 with a three-hit, three-walk effort.
