
INDIANOLA - Luther College's Paul Soener recorded a 2-over-par 74 Friday and maintains a two-stroke lead in the medalist race after 54 holes at the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's golf championship hosted by Indianola Country Club.
Central posted a third round score of 290 and holds a 20-stroke lead with a total of 904. Luther fired a 309 and is 20 strokes back at 924.
Wartburg (328-304-301-934) is in third place in the nine-team tournament. The Knights' Chris Reck sits in fourth individually and is four strokes back of Soener in the medalist race with a three-day total 224. Wartburg's Ian Flores tied for Friday's low round of 71 and is ninth overall at 231.
The 72-hole championship concludes Saturday at Indianola Country Club. The Iowa Conference team champion receives an automatic bit into the NCAA Championships scheduled for May 13-16 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
