Warriors crush Mustangs

CEDAR RAPIDS -- Marshall Cook and Jake Irey each had hat tricks as the Waterloo Warriors blasted the Cedar Rapids Mustangs, 12-0, Thursday in Midwest High School Hockey League action.

Irey added three assists as the Warriors improved to 11-3-2. Six Waterloo players scored in the first period as the Warriors jumped out to a 6-0 lead.

Dawson Kuhlmann scored 3 minutes, 8 seconds into the opening period to open the flood gates. Cook, Irey, Spencer Warren, Jordan Sheeley and Michael Thompson also scored in the first period.

Kuhlman finished with two goals, and Jeremy Wright also light the lamp.

The Warriors host the Kansas City Outlaws Saturday (6 p.m.) and Sunday (8:30 a.m.) at Young Arena.
