CEDAR FALLS - New Hampton native and Speed TV star Rich Christensen will headline an event at the Cedar Falls Raceway this weekend.

The star and creator of "Pinks" is bringing his new show, "Arm Drop Racing" to the track Friday and Saturday.

The event kicks off at noon Friday and gets into full swing Saturday with the gates opening at 9 a.m. The main event will begin at 2:45 p.m. Saturday.

According to the Raceway, nearly 400 competitors have signed up for the event, and a purse of more than $10,000 will be paid out.

The event features a chance for racers in all classes - bikes, cars, quads, snowmobiles, anything that can run the 1/4-mile strip in less than 14 seconds - to compete in a heads-up, winner-take-all format.

There is a twist. Like in "Pinks," competitors can negotiate the length of the race. Additionally, according to the Arm Drop Racing website, Christensen can change the rules at anytime. If it is like "Pinks," that is almost guaranteed to happen.

Christensen and other members of his show will be on hand to sign autographs and pose for pictures following the conclusion of the event.

Christensen, a University of Northern Iowa graduate, debuted the show nearly a year ago this weekend at the Memphis (Tenn.) Motorsports Park.
