PELLA - Luther College upset top-seeded Central College during the opening day of the Iowa Conference softball tournament.

The Norse opened the day with a 7-5 victory over Simpson, before knocking off Central, 5-2.

Danielle Armbruster hit a three-run home run in the top of the first to propel Luther past the Dutch.

Katie Lambert earned the win for Norse despite allowing seven hits and walking seven. She struck out 12 and stranded 11 Central baserunners.

Second-seeded Wartburg was also upset, 2-0, by Coe.

Sonja Schwenker held the Knights to three hits. Wartburg twice had a runner lead off with a hit, only to be stranded at second base.

Luther will play Coe for the right to play in the title game, while Wartburg plays Simpson at noon in an elimination game.
