"De Blob" is another game with an interesting idea, and this one falls under the good category.

Adapted from a free PC game, "de Blob" tells the story of a world in which all the color has been drained by the evil INKT Corporation. Everything's either black or white.

The Color Underground turns to de Blob, who literally is a giant blob. De Blob can roll around Chroma City and soak up paint. Anything he touches then becomes that color, whether it's a building, a wall, a tree or a vehicle.

Soon, the neighborhood de Blob is working in is covered in a rainbow of colors. De Blob can even mix his red, yellow and blue paints to get purple, green or brown.

Painting an entire block of buildings, or an entire stretch of road, frees the formerly colorful citizens (whose name has gone from Raydians to Graydians), and de Blob can restore their color.

It's not as easy as it sounds, though. INKT goons called Inkies are out to get him, and if they touch de Blob, he turns black and must get to water and rinse it off quickly. Any time he falls into water, de Blob also loses whatever color he was carrying. This adds some challenge to getting everything painted.

The Wii controls are easy. The nunchuk's thumbstick controls de Blob's movement, and flicking the remote makes him jump.

"De Blob" is a simple concept, but it will keep anyone busy for a long time, especially if you're a completionist like me. I can't bear to move on to another area until I've gotten every inch of the current area colored. And there are a lot of areas to color and citizens to rescue. There also are timed challenges that have you performing certain tasks, such as coloring an entire block in one color before time runs out.

Plus, you can play against friends to see who can color the most items in a certain time period.

"De Blob" is colorful, original and an absolute blast to play. It taps into that joy for coloring we all had as a kid, and it's fun for the entire family.
