I love trivia games, whether on paper or computer. Eventually, though, questions start repeating, and the fun dies there.
"Buzz! Quiz TV" for the PlayStation 3 has a grip on that problem.
The game, which plays like a television game show, lets up to eight players face off with wireless buzzers. In Sofa vs. Sofa online play, four players can compete.
"Buzz!" starts off with more than 5,000 questions in various categories, and Sony promises downloadable quiz packs of 500 questions.
The really cool feature, though, is My Buzz. By going to MyBuzzQuiz.com, players can create their own mini-quizzes of eight questions and upload them to the game's servers. Then, players in the game can download and play them.
This extends the life of the game immeasurably and also adds a fun niche factor (the first thing I did was beeline for a "Harry Potter" quiz, followed shortly after by a "World of Warcraft" quiz).
The included buzzers work well, though they don't use the PS3's built-in Bluetooth connection. Instead, they come with a USB receiver, which makes the buzzers also compatible with the PlayStation 2.
It would be nice, though, if one of the four answer buttons on the buzzer had a bump on it so I could tell my finger placement without having to look down.
In this era of video games, when Internet connections are standard, it's easy to keep up creative content after a game's release. "Buzz!" is a perfect example of that.
