I was looking forward to ''Turning Point: Fall of Liberty" because it asks the question, ''What if Winston Churchill had died in 1931, before World War II?"

The Germans invade New York, and you, a construction worker named Dan Carson, find yourself working for the resistance and battling Nazis in the streets and subways.

It's an intriguing idea, but the execution fails miserably.

For one, the Nazis are stupid. They frequently rush into gunfire or even appear not to notice you. I often just ran up to them and snapped their necks.

Second, why is it Carson is the only one capable of doing anything? He's not even in the military, yet the National Guard has him arming bombs to blow up tanks and other complicated missions. I know your character has to do something or the game would be pointless, but the Guard's apparent incompetence really bugged me. As did the fact that the tanks always conveniently parked over a manhole.

Third, each of the levels is absurdly linear. There's never any question as to what to do next because there's only one way to go.

Even this could have been spiced up if there were hidden items and collectibles to find, but there's nothing.

Meanwhile, I was underwhelmed by the visuals, which had plenty of opportunities to shine and didn't.

I wanted to try out the limited online multiplayer, but nobody was even on when I tried to play.

On every level, ''Turning Point" disappoints. It's boring, bland and, to put it bluntly, stupid. Pass on it.
