CEDAR RAPIDS - Iowa actors will get a chance to show their stuff Sunday at a casting call in Cedar Rapids for the independent film "Peacock," starring Ellen Page, of 'Juno' fame, and Cillian Murphy.

Eighteen small roles in the movie are open. Auditions will conducted by Ann Wilkinson, head of PMS Casting in Pella.

"We're looking forward to seeing a lot of people," she said. "If we find somebody there who is exactly right for the part we will probably have them read something right there."

"Peacock" tells the story of John Skillpa (Murphy), a bank manager with split personality disorder who leads a double life as "Emma." Page plays "Maggie," a single mother who holds the key to Murphy's past. The psychological thriller will start filming in May in Des Moines area.

The film's casting call is offered in conjunction with this weekend's Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival. Event attendees may have a leg up on their competition - Deb Copeland, a casting associate for "Peacock," will offer an "Acting for the Camera" workshop at the gathering Saturday. The class will cover acting styles, auditioning skills, and the basics of a good headshot and performance resume. For more information, visit www.crifm.org/festival.html.

"I think ("Peacock") is going to be good for the state of Iowa and I think there are going to be a lot of good opportunities for actors in the state," said Eric Freese, communications director of the festival, which runs Friday and Saturday at Collins Road Theatres in Marion. "Our hope is that people come to the seminar and then go right on to the audition and use what they learned."

Actors should bring a headshot and a resume including their name, contact information, height, weight, hair color and eye color to the casting call. Attendees may be also be considered for "extra" positions in "Peacock."
