Friends of the Gallagher-Bluedorn will host the second annual "Beers to You and Gourmet Too," gourmet food and beer tasting, at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center on February 8, 2009 from 3-7pm. Tickets are on sale now at any UNItix locations or by visiting the "Beers to You" website at www.uni.edu/gbpac/beertoyou. Prices are $35 for Friends members and $45 for non-members. Attendees will receive a gift bag with coupons from exhibitors, Beer Gourmet recipes, newsletter as well as a commemorative pub glass with event logo.

This event is a fundraiser for the GBPAC to support programming for the 2009-2010 season and last year 40,000 kids K-12 were able to see performances through the Buck-a-Kid program, which is supported by the Friends of the GBPAC. Fahr Beverage is the exclusive beer sponsor for this event, and Tara Sagers, Beer Gourmet for Fahr Beverage is the Event and Tasting Coordinator. Ms. Sagers is on the Friends of the GBPAC board with co-chairs, Nancy Seidler and Paul Stapella. The event features the top Cedar Valley restaurants and caterers as exhibitors who will bring in food to pair with more than 30 imports, craft and specialty beers to sample. The Cedar Fall CRAZE, a local home brewers club, will have an exhibitors table with display and tasting. The silent auction will be running throughout the day.

Bertch Cabinets and Cabinets Galore in Cedar Falls are designing and building a full, working kitchen on stage for the live cooking demonstration hosted by Tara Sagers, Beer Gourmet from Fahr Beverage. At 3-4pm the presenting chef from Farradday's in the isle¨ casino and hotel Waterloo will be on hand demonstrating how to cook with beer, while our guest speakers will be on hand answering questions and talking about the life of a Brewmaster. This year we are very honored to welcome back Waterloo native John Hall, founder and President of Goose Island Beer Company in Chicago and also welcome, Tom O'Connell Assistant Brewmaster at Anheuser-Busch InBev in St. Louis, Missouri and Jeff "Puff" Irvin, head Brewmaster at Olde Main Brewing Company in Ames, Iowa. We are also pleased to welcome Lucy Saunders, food editor of All About Beer, author of the cookbook, Cooking with Beer, was published by Time Life in 1996 and Grilling with Beer was published by F&B Communications in 2006. Ms. Saunders will be on hand to sign books and visit with beer enthusiasts.
