ROBERT L. LEMKE
GLADBROOK - Some Republicans apparently don't believe there is a hunger problem in America. They think that just because no one seems to be starving in their hometown, that no one is starving In the good old United States of America.
I suggest that these Republicans get in contact with the following organizations:
1. Bread for the World.
2. America's Second Harvest.
3. Feed the Children.
4. The Salvation Army.
5. The American Indian Relief Council.
We do have the food stamp program and WIC, but these federal food programs are woefully underfunded thanks to right-wing politicians. In fact, these federal food programs would not exist at all if the right wingers had their way.
The Bread for the World Newsletter states that there are 35 million people who live in U.S. households who struggle to put food on the table. Right-wing Republicans could care less.
