Great Expectations: Businessman, native son creating ape research facility near Des Moines

Knobi, a 27-year-old orangutan, is helping researchers at the Great Ape Trust in Iowa learn about apes' cognitive abilities. The facility covers about 230 acres near Des Moines and features bonobos. In coming years, the Great Ape Trust will also house gorillas and chimpanzees.
