WATERLOO - The city's Waste Management Services superintendent was found dead this morning in the Cedar River northeast of Plainfield.
Tim Shea, 64, of 412 Pleasant St., had worked for the city for more than 20 years.
Shea's wife called the Bremer County Sheriff's Office about 7:48 p.m. Sunday when he failed to return home from a fishing trip. He had been fishing on foot along the Cedar River.
The Plainfield Fire and Rescue First Responders were paged and a search of the area was organized. It continued throughout the night until about 8:09 a.m. today when his body was found about a quarter-mile north of 120th Street. This was the same area where Shea had last been seen.
No foul play is expected, however, the state medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Waterloo Mayor Tim Hurley is expected to issue a statement about Shea during tonight's City Council meeting.
The Bremer County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the death.
