WAVERLY -- The Waverly Health Center will conduct flu and pneumonia immunization clinics in October.
Options are a nasal spray, injectable flu vaccine and the pneumonia vaccine.
Cost are $24 for the flu vaccines and $40 for the pneumonia vaccine. Individuals with Medicare insurance should bring their medical and prescription drug cards.
Clinics will be:
10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, Tripoli City Hall
4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday,, Readlyn Fire Station
4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 9, Redeemer Lutheran Church
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 10, State Bank and Trust
9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 16, Waverly Homes
10:45 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 16, Waverly Manor
3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 16, Center Pharmacy
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 17, Denver Savings Bank
9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 22, Hy-Vee Pharmacy
3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 23, Nashua Clinic
4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 27 Janesville School
3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 30 Center Pharmacy
Additional clinics will be announced as they are scheduled.
The flu vaccine is recommended for anyone more than 50 years old or with a chronic illness affecting the respiratory, cardiac or immune systems. The vaccine is also recommended for individuals with diabetes, pregnant women and those caring for someone in a high-risk group.
The flu vaccine must be administered annually to offer protection.
The pneumonia vaccine is recommended for anyone more than 65 years old or with a chronic illness, but officials suggest checking with a physician.
For those unable to leave their homes, members of the hospital's home and community health staff will make home visits at no additional cost.
