ORCHARD - A 65-year-old man died Sunday when cattle crushed him against a wall or fence while being loaded into a truck.
Howard Hoisington of Orchard died at his son Brian's cattle farm in rural Osage, said the family's pastor, the Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser of Trinity Lutheran Church.
The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m., and the Mitchell County Regional Healthcare Center Ambulance Service responded, Kaltwasser said.
No report was filed by the Mitchell County Sheriff's Department, Sheriff Curt Younker said.
Hoisington, a retired farmer, was an instructor at the Riceville Archery Club, a former 4-H leader and a deacon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage.
