WATERLOO - The Cruise Down Memory Lane event, a display of Waverly Car Club's vintage cars, is set for today.
A promotion of Reminiscence Therapy for aging adults, the event will run from 10 a.m. to noon at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, 7511 University Ave., Cedar Falls, and from 1 to 3 p.m. at Bartels Lutheran Home, 1922 Fifth Ave. N.W., Waverly.
Reminiscence Therapy provides socialization, prevents social isolation, aids retention of memory, preserves personal history, builds self-esteem, promotes intergenerational understanding, aids in discovery of history and provides opportunity to assess life accomplishments.
The event, sponsored by students of Allen College in the Interdisciplinary community care of the aging population course, Melissa Brandos, Marlo Dawson and Scott Rhoades, is offered in conjunction with the Waverly Car Club, Lutheran Home of Cedar Falls, Bartels Lutheran Home and Alzheimer's Association.
