TAMA - The site for the Sac and Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa's annual powwow has moved for the second time.
Flooding caused organizers to relocate the event in June from Meskwaki ancestral grounds along the banks of the Iowa River. The powwow was going to be at the Outback Campground and Resort, which is adjacent to the Meskwaki Settlement.
But tribal officials decided to move the powwow back to the settlement this week. The new location is behind the Meskwaki Bingo-Casino-Hotel.
Members of the Meskwaki Annual Powwow Association did not indicate what prompted the change.
The powwow, which is in its 94th year, will be from Thursday, through Sunday. Each day, a different generation will display tribal dances and songs along with other aspects of Meskwaki culture.
