TOLEDO (AP) -- An employee of the Meskwaki Bingo, Casino and Hotel is accused of embezzling more than $100,000 from the resort.

Ryan Roberts of Montour is charged with numerous counts of first-degree theft. He is being held in the Tama County Jail. Bail was set at $1 million.

Police allege Roberts embezzled from the Meskwaki casino in 2007 and in 2008. The arrest was the result of an internal investigation by the Sac & Fox Gaming Commission and Meskwaki Casino management.

Tribal Council Chairman Adrian Pushetonequa said the arrest signaled the strength of the tribe's regulatory structure. Roberts is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Monday.
