VAN HORNE - Authorities on Saturday identified the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash in Benton County.

Ethan Frye, 17, of Keystone, was pronounced dead at the scene Friday evening.

According to the Benton County Sheriff's Department, Frye was attempting to leave a private drive in a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass. As the vehicle entered U.S. Highway 30, the car crossed the path of a 2000 Dodge Durango driven by John Winter, 34, of Van Horne.

Winter was reportedly not injured.

The accident occurred at 6:42 p.m. about two miles west of the intersection with U.S. Highway 218 southeast of Van Horne.

Representatives from the Iowa State Patrol, Van Horne Fire Department and First Responders, Blairstown Ambulance and Lifeguard Helicopter assisted at the scene.
