WAVERLY -- Celebration Iowa Singers and Jazz Band, an elite ensemble of Iowa high school musicians, will perform Sunday in Waverly.

The group, formerly known as the State Fair Singers and Jazz Band, will begin at 4 p.m. in the Rada Performing Arts Center at Waverly-Shell Rock High School.

Cost is $5, and tickets will be available Thursday at the Courtyard Bash near the Bremer County Courthouse and at the Waverly Hy-Vee and First National Bank main office.

Tickets will also be available at the door.

W-SR Band Boosters is hosting the concert with support from Modern Builders. Proceeds from ticket sales and donations will help replace instruments lost in the recent flood and to defray costs of the high school band trip planned in December.

Celebration Iowa's 2008 show opens with a Broadway review featuring "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Oklahoma," and "On Broadway."

"How Does Your Garden Grow" will feature local students.

During the course of a summer, Celebration Iowa cast members perform more than 30 shows in state while learning from some of Iowa's best instructors.

Celebration Iowa, a project of Luther College, is also funded by the R.J. McElroy Trust, the Fred Maytag Family Foundation, Hy-Vee, and Celebration Iowa Alumni and Parent Funds.

For information about the group, call Mary Weis, administrative assistant, at (563) 387-1009 or e-mail celebrationiowa@luther.edu. Online, go to www.celebrationiowa.luther.edu.
