Four people died and six were injured in separate accidents in Northeast Iowa over the weekend.
It was one of the deadliest weekends on area roadways in some time.
In the latest accident, two men were killed following a double pickup truck accident at an uncontrolled intersection in Franklin County Sunday evening.
Brian Benson, 42, of Aplington, the driver of a GMC Sierra 2500, and Richard Ball, 63, of Ackley, both died of injuries in the accident.
Three others were injured. They were listed as Frank Teske, 47, of Ackley, the driver of a Ford F150 truck; Roger Zweck, 24, of Aplington; and Tim Ball, 12, of Ackley. All three were taken to Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, where their conditions were not available.
The accident occurred at 5:08 p.m. at 80th Street and Franklin Avenue.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Teske was westbound on 80th Street and Benson was southbound on Franklin Avenue. The two trucks collided at the uncontrolled intersection.
Richard Ball and Tim Ball were passengers in the Teske vehicle; Zweck was a passenger in the Benson vehicle.
An Arlington man died following a one-vehicle rollover accident in Clayton County Sunday morning
Richard Deshaw, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene after his car went off the road on Iowa Highway 3 south of Strawberry Point at about 6:44 a.m. Sunday. A passenger, Malorie Klosterman, 19, of Strawberry Point, was transported to Manchester Hospital and airlifted to University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Sheriff's officials said Deshaw's westbound car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center line, left the roadway, entered a ditch, vaulted over a culvert and rolled, coming to rest in the ditch on its roof. Both Deshaw and Kloserman were ejected from the car.
A Waverly man died in a motorcycle accident early Saturday.
Craig Duane Jacobs, 41, died in the single-vehicle accident four miles northeast of Plainfield. The exact location was not stated.
The Bremer County Sheriff's Office responded to the accident about 12:05 a.m. Jacobs had been driving the motorcycle. A passenger, Mary Patrice Greco, no age available, of Waterloo, was injured. She was transported to Covenant Medical Center, and her sister reported she was in serious condition.
In another accident which did not result in a fatality, a Shell Rock man was injured in a car-motorcycle accident near Clarksville Sunday afternoon.
Marty Monaghan, 43, suffered leg injuries in the accident. He was taken by air ambulance to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, where a condition was not immediately available.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Monaghan was westbound on County Road C-33 in Butler County about 12:30 p.m. when he collided with a car driven by Donna Dowden, 38, of Clarksville, who was traveling eastbound on the county road.
Troopers said Dowden turned across traffic into a residential drive and was struck by the motorcycle.
