FREDERICKSBURG - A 28-year-old man is charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a man early Sunday at a quinceanera dance in Fredericksburg.
Alberto Parra, of Postville, allegedly stabbed Shawn Schultz, 22, in the upper torso, according to the Chickasaw County Sheriff's Office. Parra also is known as Miguel Parra Sanchez, Alberto Morales and Miguel Parra.
Schultz, also of Postville, was taken to Palmar Lutheran Health in West Union. He was listed in stable condition early Monday morning.
Chickasaw County officer Kevin Rieck, who is investigating the incident, did not offer a motive for the violence but said it was unrelated to the dance at the Community Center.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office reported the alleged stabbing to Chickasaw authorities after Schultz was admitted to the hospital.
Parra is being held at the Chickasaw County Jail. The charge of attempted murder, a Class B felony, is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
