OSAGE - The Wireless Foundation and members of CTIA-The Wireless Association honored Tianna Sullivan of Osage on Monday with a 2008 VITA Wireless Samaritan Award, during ceremonies in Washington, D.C.
Sullivan in January used her Alltel Wireless cell phone to give aid to an elderly woman who had wandered from a nearby nursing home.
On Jan. 19, Sullivan was returning home late when near her home she saw a woman wearing only a hospital gown on a night when the wind chill factor had already dropped to 25 degrees below zero. Before getting out of her car to help, she called 911 on her cell phone.
Once the elderly woman was taken to the hospital, Police Officer Brian Wright said Sullivan saved the elderly woman's life by stopping to help.
VITA Wireless Samaritan Awards are presented annually to honor people across the United States who used their wireless technology to save lives, stop crime and help in other emergency situations.
