DES MOINES - Iowa Gov. Chet Culver appointed Iowa State University junior Greta Johnson to become a student member of the Iowa Board of Regents on Friday.
Johnson, of Le Mars, is studying political science at Iowa State and has experience as a page in the Iowa Legislature and as an intern in the ISU Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics.
The appointment is subject to confirmation from the Iowa Senate, but Johnson's term will begin immediately.
The nine-member Iowa Board of Regents oversees the state's three public universities, the Iowa School for the Deaf and the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School.
