DES MOINES - Gov. Chet Culver Friday announced membership on two new boards that will play roles in Iowa's economic recovery, providing oversight of more than $3 billion in federal recovery funds as well as the state I-JOBS program.
West Des Moines City Manager Jeff Pomeranz and Pat Baird, an executive with AEGON in Cedar Rapids, will be the chair and vice-chair, respectively, of the I-JOBS Board, which will oversee the $830 million initiative to recover from the worst floods in Iowa's history and create and retain thousands of jobs, Culver said.
He also named Donald Timmons, an Altoona CPA, to serve as chairman of the Iowa Accountability and Transparency Board. Culver created the board by executive order to ensure Iowa meets accountability and transparency requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Other members of the I-Jobs board are: Willard (Sandy) Boyd, emeritus law professor and former president of the University of Iowa; Joni Dittmer, training manager for Kraft Foods in Davenport; Kate Gronstal, project engineer for HNTB Corporation in Omaha, NE., Toi Sullivan, an architect for FEH Associates in Sioux City; and State Treasurer Mike Fitzgerald and representatives of the Iowa Finance Authority, Department of Economic Development, Iowa Workforce Development and the Rebuild Iowa Office.
Members of the Iowa Accountability and Transparency Board are: Lorie Bennett, Humboldt city administrator; Denise Bulat, planning executive director for the Bi-State Regional Commission; Angela Connolly, Polk County supervisor; Clarence Hoffman, former state representative and owner of Hoffman Insurance
