WATERLOO - One woman is dead and two men are hospitalized following a two-car accident at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday in front of the Logan Avenue Hy-Vee store in the 2100 block of Logan Avenue.

Police said Robert Glenn Richardson, 68, of 7147 Pioneer Drive in Cedar Falls was traveling southbound on Logan when a northbound vehicle turned left in front of him. The northbound vehicle was driven by Charles Edward Shepard, 82, of 307 Reed St. in Waterloo. Also in Shepard's vehicle was Shepard's 81-year-old wife, Marjorie Shepard, who was the front seat passenger.

Richardson's vehicle crashed into the passenger side of Shepard's vehicle.

Crews with Waterloo Fire Rescue had to extricate the Shepards, and they transported Marjorie Shepard to Allen Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Waterloo Fire Rescue paramedics also transported Charles Shepard and Robert Richardson to Allen, where they are both listed in stable condition.

Richardson was wearing a seat belt, according to the accident report, and the Shepards weren't.

Police continue to investigate the accident.
