WATERLOO -- Sales begin Monday of a Courier-produced DVD looking back at the historic events that Mother Nature unleashed on the area this spring.

Titled "Thirty Days and Thirty Nights," the DVD has interviews, video and pictures from the May 25 tornado that struck New Hartford, Parkersburg, Dunkerton and parts of Buchanan County and then chronicles the flooding that took place in Northeast Iowa two weeks later.

The name comes from the fact that it was a straight 30 days and nights of events that never before had been seen in this area.

The DVD includes interviews with Courier reporters, editors and photographers who covered the disasters and the interviews they did with the people affected. The DVD also includes a law enforcement officer's in-car communication as the tornado neared Parkersburg.

With the help of Wartburg College, Best Buy, Family Video and Blockbuster, the Courier produced the keepsake video for $3.25. All proceeds beyond that will be given to the Hawkeye Chapter of the American Red Cross for ongoing local disaster support.

The cost is $12.50 and the DVD can be picked up at the Courier's business office, 501 Commercial St., Waterloo.

You also can order a copy online at www.wcfcourier.com. Your credit card will be charged $14.25 ($12.50 will be applied to the DVD purchase and an additional $1.75 will be applied to shipping and handling).
