DYERSVILLE - A special screening of "Field of Dreams" will bring the film's star back to Iowa.

Kevin Costner will make a special appearance at Left & Center Field of Dreams in Dyersville on Aug. 11, when "Field of Dreams" will be shown on the original shooting location. The screening is part of the 2006 Netflix Rolling Roadshow, a tour presenting 10 classic Hollywood films on location.

The visit will be Costner's first to Dyersville since the movie was shot in 1988. Prior to the film's screening on a 30-foot jumbo screen, Costner's band will perform and a Shoeless Joe Jackson Run the Bases Tournament will be held. Singer Lisa Loeb also will attend the screening, as the Rolling Roadshow spokesperson and ambassador.

"Field of Dreams" brought national attention to the state upon its premiere and box office success in 1989. The Dyersville field was chosen from hundreds in Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Illinois and Canada. "Field of Dreams" also was nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Admission to the event is free, and spectators are urged to come early to secure good seats. Seating and refreshments will not be provided, so audience members are encouraged to bring their own.

Some of the other films on the Rolling Roadshow tour include "The Shining," held at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colo., and "Escape from Alcatraz," held at the film's namesake in the San Francisco Bay.

The "Field of Dreams" event begins at 6 p.m., with the film screening at 8:30 p.m. Left & Center Field of Dreams is located at 29001 Lansing Road in Dyersville. For more information, visit netflix.com.
