WATERLOO -- Less than five years after making her first appearance on KWWL evening news, co-anchor Ann Kerian has left the station.

Kerian joined the station on Dec. 30, 2002, as veteran Ron Steele's co-anchor for the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. newscasts. Her last day was Friday.

"For several months Ann had been in discussion with station management regarding an alternate work schedule," said Tom Allen, the station's vice president and general manager. "Our desire was for Ann to remain with the station at least through the month of July, but for the good of the station and Ann personally, it was best to make the change right away."

The announcement was made to KWWL staff Friday. Kerian was not available for comment this morning.

Kerian, a North Dakota native, came to KWWL from Pensacola, Fla., where she was a weekday co-anchor at WEAR TV3. Once at KWWL Kerian also took over duties as the station's health reporter.

"We certainly wish Ann the best in the future and thank her for her contributions to KWWL," Allen said.

KWWL will begin the search for a new evening co-anchor immediately, Allen said.
