PARKERSBURG - A documentary of the Aplington-Parkersburg 2008 football season will air on ESPN and show at the Iowa Hall of Pride in Des Moines. The DVD will also be for sale soon at Casey's General Stores statewide.

Portions of the proceeds from "Touchdown in the Heartland" will benefit the Ed Thomas Foundation. The two-hour documentary was completed prior to coach Thomas' death in June.

ESPN will air portions of "Touchdown in the Heartland" during its pregame coverage of the Aplington-Parkersburg home opener against Dike-New Hartford at 6 p.m today.

Thomas coached for 37 years. His teams won two state championships, made the playoffs 19 times and four of his players are in the NFL.

Casey's hopes to have DVDs available in early September.
