WATERLOO - One person's junk could be another's treasure.

Now is the time to find out. A team with the Great Treasure Hunt, an auction company based in Winston-Salem, N.C., is in Waterloo through Saturday to provide free evaluations and make cash offers.

Experts will be at the Hampton Inn, 2034 La Porte Road, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. No appointments are needed.

Licensed auctioneer Eddie Lambert encourages people to dig through attics, basements and closet shelves. The company wants vintage sports memorabilia, toys, guitars, comic books, gold, silver, jewelry, coins, watches and many other pre-1965 collectibles.

"We're interested in looking at any and everything folks have," he said. "Generally, our rule of thumb is we like to buy items we think we can sell within 10 days."

Tracey Fischels of Waterloo found a Bozo the Clown puppet with the original box and instructions in her attic that former owners of her home left behind more than 20 years ago.
