FLOYD - Evelyn Miller's family observed the fourth anniversary of the little girl's disappearance and death privately.

Richard and Linda Christie of Windsor Heights, Evelyn's grandparents, planned to visit their son, Andrew Christie, Evelyn's father, in Waterloo.

Together they intended to travel to Floyd and to place flowers at Evelyn's memorial statue at the Floyd Community Center.

"We are hanging in there," Linda Christie said.

"Some days are good and some days are bad, but you take it day by day. That's all you can do."

Christie said she talks with investigators at least once a month.

"They say the case is going very well and this case will be solved," she said.

Investigators call about new events related to the case, such as the recent federal indictment against Casey Fredericksen, the former live-in boyfriend of Evelyn's mother, Noel Miller.

Christie said she "was quite shocked" to learn about the indictment.

"It leads us to believe there is more to this than anyone ever thought there was," she said.

The Christies have a blog devoted to their granddaughter's memory at evelynmillermemories.blogspot.com.
