I've practiced abstinence, myself, except for two very brief intervals, around 35 years ago. A reason for that is because I've always believed that this world is overpopulated. Also, I have no interest in the illusion of immortality that comes from having any descendants in this world.
"I wonder" made an interesting point. It seems that people foolishly think that marriage and children can cure their depression. Perhaps they watch too much television to be able to see things in a rational way.

The third comment is just foolishness, trying to make a scapegoat out of her. Again, that seems to be someone that watches too much television.
It just is too bad she and her husband chose to not have one but two children. When adults know they have highly dysfunctional lives, please don't bring children into it. We have enough teenagers that do this already. It's as simple as a pill, condom or both.

To attempt suicide so many times unsuccessfully is a sign of someone wanting attention not truly wanting to die. If she didn't want her kids to suffer then why wouldn't she just give the kids some kind of sleep medication so they were not awake for it? She cut their throats for god's sake, she cannot come back and say she was worried about them suffering. I think they only thing that would be scarier would be to drown them.
