EVANSDALE - A three-way race for mayor will take place in Evansdale during the November general election.

Thursday was the deadline for filing nomination papers for the November city election. A total of eight residents are vying for either mayor, City Council or Park Board seats.

The only contested race is for mayor. Incumbent Chad Deutsch, of 227 Trail Ave., is running for re-election. Shane Henninger, of 422 Brookside Ave., is taking a second crack at the top post in town. Denten Wilson, of 1023 Central Ave., also wants to unseat the first-term mayor.

At least one new City Council member will be elected in November. Gene Walker, of 1220 Evans Road, is running unopposed for the at-large council seat being vacated by Shelly Smith.

Incumbent council members Dick Dewater, of 930 2nd Ave., in Ward 4 and Carl Wyant, of 1218 S. Evans Road, in Ward 2 also are running unopposed.

Two Park Board seats are on the ballot. Board Chairman Jeff Dawson, of 507 Morrell Ave., and Sandra Roberts, of 1129 S. Evans Road, want the positions.
