Windows broken out of school, vehicles

CEDAR FALLS - North Cedar Elementary School and eight vehicles were vandalized overnight Thursday by someone wielding a BB or pellet gun.

According to a police report, someone in a vehicle shot out the window of the school, at 2419 Fern St., about 7:40 p.m. Thursday. There were no witnesses to the vandalism of the vehicles.

Windows were shot out of a 1999 Ford Four Runner owned by Sarah Kruse near her home in the 2700 block of Minnetonka Drive; a 2006 Chevy Silverado owned by Nathan Browkaw near his home in the 100 block of Highland Drive; a 1993 Ford Ranger owned by Jacob Bawek of 2604 College St. and a 1997 Ford Taurus owned by Ted Meyer of 2610 College St., No. 1, both in the 800 block of West 26th Street; a 1999 Jeep Cherokee owned by Steven Christensen near his home in the 200 block of Spruce Hills Drive; a 1996 Ford Windstar owned by Cindy Lutgen in the driveway of her home at 1802 Grand Boulevard; and a 1999 Toyota Camry owned by Alex Miller near his home in the 1900 block of Ashland Avenue. The side of a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am owned by Brandon Rogers was shot at three times near his home in the 2500 block of West Fourth Street.

The combined damage was estimated at $2,450.
